Lehari

Several desires fill in my mind,
but bliss I couldn’t find.
Melancholy filled and erroneous thought
laying unrest upon the cot.

Drops of wine alas need thee;
said Mephistopheles to me.
Bestowing further towering exhilaration,
I saw Helen who carnaged the nations.
Laying more the elements of ecstasy
he showed me intoxication, orgasm and legacy.

Then the roar and the triumphant arrival
I saw Taxiarch Michael.
Bewildering my conscience  he too pillared;
the muddled enigma – the pleasure of the world
Then pushed me from joyride zenith
to a nadir, unveiling truth and fatigue.

Now I ask u, o friend of mine,
how could I find pleasure undying?
Several desires filled in my mind
but bliss I couldn’t find.
